Artificial Intelligence at Mercer
Mercer University considers artificial intelligence to be an important area of exploration for learning, discovery, and service. Guided by our mission, values, and commitment to ethical leadership, we seek to investigate AI and related emerging technologies with wisdom, discernment, and collective insight.

Artificial Intelligence Working Group
The Artificial Intelligence Working Group serves as a cross-university body charged with guiding Mercer’s thoughtful and ethical integration of artificial intelligence across teaching, learning, research, and operations.
Working Group Objectives

Develop and recommend a comprehensive institutional strategy for AI adoption and governance.

Identify opportunities and guidelines to use AI to enhance learning, research, and community engagement while upholding ethical and responsible practice.

Promote equitable access to AI tools and literacy for faculty, staff, and students.

Encourage innovation that reflects Mercer’s values of curiosity, collaboration, and discovery.

Review emerging trends, policies, and technologies to ensure Mercer remains adaptive and forward-looking in its approach to AI.
In fulfilling this purpose, the Working Group will collaborate with academic and administrative units across the University to cultivate a culture of responsible experimentation, shared learning, and ethical leadership in the age of intelligent systems.
